About the Department
Fruit and Vegetable department, a pioneer division of CSIR-CFTRI committed for both forward and backward linkages towards minimization of post-harvest losses through development of appropriate pre and post-harvest total technology, to maintain freshness and quality of fresh fruits and vegetables for extended period and towards optimization of process parameters for Indian fruits and vegetables. This empowers both internal and export trade of fresh fruits and vegetables and to achieve diversified processed products suited to the food industry. This integrated Farm to fork, technological accomplishments of this department, is already being capitulated successfully to the national growth in terms of technological intervention for the growth of rural development, fruit and vegetable based food industries and in nutraceutical trade. More important it occasioned minimization of post-harvest loss. Current departmental R&D endeavors are oriented towards fulfillment of our relentless national commitment in the development of the fruit and vegetable division. The department also organizes need based training programmes and transfers technologies to the entrepreneurs. The department also undertakes sponsored/ consultancy work on Specific projects from food industry and various Government agencies.
